Up North
Silent, serene solitude.
Smells of pine and coffee, freshly brewed.
Antlers are revealed as the sun rises pink.
We join on the porch as the birds start to sing.
Some want to travel across skies and seas.
Although I enjoy that, I simply want peace.
To simply stroll as I follow the stream.
To trample new trails through vast acres of trees.
My battery’s dead, I turned off the TV.
In all four seasons, I don’t want to leave.
